Jonah Bennett – Fragments

Jonah Bennett during sunset in Berkeley

Jonah Bennett is editor-in-chief of Palladium Magazine. When not editing, Jonah Bennett focuses on his graduate studies. Whatever is left is spent on experimental philosophy, which is the main methodological approach on this platform.

The purpose of this blog in particular is for notes and fragments of unfinished, speculative work that may later take shape into longer pieces. Like this one on archetype projection. Or this on a new concept I developed called the Transmission Containment Window. Nothing is final, and generally, what you’ll see is that many—if not most—posts are actually wrong because they haven’t been interrogated enough. And that’s fine. One of the biggest fears I’ve found when talking to very, very, very smart people who absolutely refuse to write is that they don’t want to be wrong in a permanent format. So, they’ll write a little, grapple with the concepts back-and-forth, and then just give up out of fear that they haven’t quite come up with a piece of writing that will stand the test of eternity. Just give it up. Being Wrong is fine and Good, and the more you feel Good about being Wrong, the more you’ll come into contact with people who can really effectively sharpen your ideas in extended dialectic.

As for why this site exists at all, I just prefer having very separate sites for different kinds of work because it helps to keep the kinds distinct in my mind.

“The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die. As well the minds which are prevented from changing their opinions; they cease to be mind.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche

“If people never did silly things nothing intelligent would ever get done.” ― Ludwig Wittgenstein

“I am sitting with a philosopher in the garden; he says again and again ‘I know that that’s a tree’, pointing to a tree that is near us. Someone else arrives and hears this, and I tell him: ‘This fellow isn’t insane. We are only doing philosophy.” ― Ludwig Wittgenstein

So, if you read, you’ll find micro-posts on philosophy, geopolitics, economics, politics, sociology, religion, etc., that don’t fit on any of the other platforms I use. And you can peruse the different platforms below.
